CLub Special Projects

Emergency Alert: We had been focussing on the remote islands of the South Pacific, for humanitarian outreach, do to amputations occuring there, do to minor injuries, with no medical help available. Now, with the earthquake in Haiti and the multitudes of Orphans and Handicapped, that it is leaving behind, we are redirecting our attention, to a youth and Handicapped project, that was put on hold, until we could start generating major funding, from a youth science and film expedition.

That prior plan, was to acquire an ocean ferryboat and build a sea-going city, for the youth and Handicapped, with all volunteer support, except for a captain and his required crew. Participants could fish from small boats, we would carry onboard and the surplus would be canned for rough weather and taking to their homelands, which would now be Haiti. Accommodations could be increased, to handle close to one thousand and I am certain, that many ministries would help with volunteering and gathering donated supplies and funding, once this project was operational.

I had not planned to ask for a membership dues, because of the volunteer support, we ask of our members, but with the Haiti disaster, we need a little help to get things moving at a more rapid pace. We have been looking for non-profit status to work under, with little encouragement, so we will be incorporating and filing for our own. If we can get new members to put in a one-time fee, for a membership packet and help spread the word, about this project, we can get to making real progress.

We have located an ocean ferry, that would be ideal for this project, at have the cost of comparable ships. If enough volunteers join us on this mission, a group can be building the extended cabins, while we are at sea and help some in Haiti or fly back home, but I believe there are enough ministries needing help in Haiti, that would be thrilled at the potential to do more and be free from the worries of security for the children and Handicapped, they serve. One minister couple that was working in Haiti, are now both among the Handicapped. Please pray for their recovery and keep up with their progress, through hope-builders.org. They are Patrick and Barbara Lataillades and they are sorely needed, back in Haiti, as soon as they can return.

With incorporation, we will be applying for grants and we will soon be conducting other fundraising activities, so we are not expecting to secure this ferry, through member contributions. There are no paid members on this project, with the exception of the licensed captain and his required crew. There could be many activities onboard as well as school programs. The small fishing boats, could be built onboard, on the auto deck. The ship could also take small farm equipment and tools, to the small farmers and help them with an income producing project, that would also raise funds for operating the ferry and providing for the children and Handicapped. This activity will belong to the children and youths. It will provide some sheltered employment for the Handicapped, with volunteers covering whatever needs tending.

We anticipate seniors, who would just help enthuse the children with their learning of life skills and just about anyone, can help children and Handicapped, with fishing. There will be something for everyone, to help out with. A major food sourse, is another youth enterprise, that we are working to fund. Once we have non-profit status, we plan to acquire small sailboats, through donations, to provide the older youths, with a charter boat, enterprise and they can also help provide fish for the ferry, when the small boats cannot be launched.

With our attention now going to Haiti, we will do as much as possible, with the youth science and film project, right on that island, to give all Haitian youth, something of brighter interest, to participate in. Just about everyone does sequells, so we can add Fiji, in the future. This film will go on tour, through youth and Handicapped groups, to raise more funding for additional youth and Handicapped enterprises and share the funds with the hosts. Some what of a protest agaist some of the garbage, coming out of Hollywood, but it will mean more funding for the kids, too. You can sign on, as a charter member, by send a $25.00 Postal moneyorder or international moneyorder, payable in US Funds to Four Winds Recreation Club, P. O. Box 2831, White City, Oregon 97503 USA.

The membership packages, will be covered from other funds, so that all of these deposits, can go for incorp-orating and acquiring our tax exempt status. We are working on many other fund raising services for other groups that we will receive a portion from and there are many ways that members can assist and also, volunteer for our local activities, if you don't have sturdy sea-legs. Our local projects, will reach out to Handicapped and veterans, with youth and volunteer assistance. We have several small boats and other recreation equipment, along with a private campsite and recreation prizes can be raffled for additional funding. It has long been my dream, to bring US and international youth together, for recreation and conservation, activities.

Recreation Opportunities

The main goal, of our recreation, is shared fishing adventures, as this does not just provide recreation, but will also, help provide food, for humanitarian outreach.
